Salar de Uyuni - the Bolovian Salt Flats - was a bucket list destination that did NOT disappoint. i rate it 7/10 difficulty getting there and 10/10 vibes. you fly to La Paz and take a tiny plane or overnight bus to Uyuni. you negotiate a deal with a local vendor to drive you to the flats in an old 4x4. you can pay for a private tour, but most likely you'll be joined by other travelers, and your guide will speak very little english. he's also probably drunk. you drive for hours on blankets of white. your eyes won't believe what they're seeing. nothing but salt flats for miles on end. it's disorienting. you *might* get lucky and see both wet & dry terrain (we did; rare) you overnight in the middle of nowhere under the darkest, starriest sky you'll ever behold. the next day you drive for hours again. you may encounter angry locals extorting visitors for ransom (we did; not rare) you finally pop out 250 miles later in san pedro de atacama, a charming town in northern chile. you are changed forever.

what’s everybody up to in crypto these days? here’s what i’m doing: - just started ethos reviews. (pls leave me one 😃) - positioning for airdrops from: rektech, fantasy top, monad (via fantastic top) and abstract (mostly via rektech), superfluid (barely) - maxing out my @farcade XP and playing quick daily mini apps like warpslot and eggs - learning new chains (hedera and aptos) - playing based games with burr frens (think beast games for farcaster) - keeping a few LPs open (native and SOL tokens on Meteora mainly) - depositing weekly fc rewards into @morpho vault for yield - checking in on my $DEGEN balance wishing i had sold it way earlier - practicing @bankr limit orders in this highly volatile market - trying to figure out why my wayfinder claim is taking 2 days to show up in my wallet - engaging with @bracky and @ponder on a pretty regular basis it sounds like a lot but it’s not. i’m mostly getting outdoors, learning new stuff, and consuming a TON of macro economic content.

the Bark Jacobs campaign is brilliant marketing. buy any leather bag from Marc Jacobs and get your pup hand painted on it for free. sent this to all my dog owner friends and every single one of them said “i want one” the waitlist at my local mall is hundreds of people long. ggs

i once spent a couple weeks in Kosrae, a tiny island in the Federated States of Micronesia. a friend of ours lives there and invited us down to chase a big swell. the waves were huge barrels draining over shallow jagged reef. well above my pay grade, so i mostly stayed on the boat to shoot pics from the channel. in between surf (which was pretty much a day-long boat adventure whenever the swells came in), we hiked, snorkeled, SUP'd, and rode jet skis through the mangroves. we even took part in their annual New Year's Eve parade. the island is tiny and reminds me of what kauai might be like way back in the day. green. wet. raw and undiscovered.

travel dissolves prejudice through firsthand experience, replacing fear with understanding. when we encounter different cultures we see our shared experiences reflected back. when we stand in front of natural and man-made wonders like the pyramids of egypt we are humbled. when we expand our perspectives we gain empathetic appreciation for others’ reality. if more people embraced the world outside of their bubbles, the world would be a kinder, more empathetic place.

it's hard to describe the array of emotions that arise whenever i go back and look at some of my old NFT wallets: - grief - relief - disgust - fondness i think the overarching feeling though, is one of massive regret. that's prob why i don't open those wallets that often.

“The greatest trick Mark Zuckerberg ever pulled was wrapping the American flag around himself and calling himself a patriot and saying he didn’t offer services in China while he spent the last decade building an $18B business there. And he continues to wrap the American flag around himself as we move into the next era of artificial intelligence.” Mind blowing congressional testimony from the Meta whistleblower. https://youtu.be/POXj0Y-1i8M?si=gVHPBKnVzU_t25rK

i’m only two episodes in, but loving The Residence on Netflix, a white house comedic murder mystery starring Suzanne “crazy eyes” from Orange is the New Black and Gus Fring from Breaking Bad. smart, funny, and doesn’t make me reach for my phone midway through an episode.
